STORY OF
MILK TEA
Let’s admit it. We were all addicted to Chinese tea back in the days.
During the British colonial period, the Hong Kong folks picked up British’s habit of having afternoon tea. However, tea, milk and sugar were considered to be upper class luxury. The Hong Kongers had to create their own local brew by mixing a few types of black tea, evaporated milk and condensed milk to make it an affordable treat!
The accidental formula then brings the rich, creamy flavour and sweetness in Lai Cha. Yummmmm. Milk tea making has now become an artisanship and a signature drink in Hong Kong after decades of evolution.
